What is Wood-Pressed Oils and their Benefits

Wood pressed oil is derived from oilseeds using "Marachekku," "Gana," or "Ghani." In the past, edible oil was derived in Gana or Ghani. Cold extraction, the conventional process of wood pressing, uses no external heat and no chemicals. These oils are extracted using a wood pestle, which presses and smashes the seeds to obtain the oil. The important point to remember about the wood pressing technique is that it uses a wooden pestle and a wooden collector to crush and collect the oil. All of this is done at a low temperature to keep the overall process temperature below 40 degrees. The wood pestle absorbs any temperature increase and does not produce heat through friction.

The Nutritional Advantages of Using Wood Pressed Oil-
  • Because wood pressed oils are produced at moderate temperatures and with no chemicals, they have low cholesterol levels.
  • Helps to reduce the risk of heart disease and other health issues.
  • Improves blood circulation and contributes to healthy skin by preventing wrinkles and premature aging.
  • Loaded with antioxidants, it strengthens the jaws and reduces gum bleeding.
  • Improves hair growth and repairs damaged hair.
Wood pressed oils are the better alternative since they are free of chemicals, preservatives, and trans fat, all of which can do more damage than good to your health. Because of the low temperature used during extraction, which has no negative effects on the oils, macronutrients, micronutrients, vitamins, and antioxidants are not lost throughout the process.

Heat is emitted during the extraction process, although it must not exceed 49° C (120° F). When oils are extracted using this method, they preserve their natural flavor, aroma, and nutrients.
